How long does it take for the Halo treatment brown spots to flake off? I'm on day 6 & I have experienced no flaking (Photo)

Question

I was treated 6 days ago with the Halo Laser. On Day 2 and Day 3 I experienced some redness but my face became VERY red on Day 4. More brown spots came to the surface. Today I have a ton of brown spots on my face but no flaking. Is this normal? Is my skin damaged. I have had no sun exposure since my treatment.

Thanks for the great question. It's difficult to tell from the photo, but it looks like you may start peeling soon. If you have a deep treatment, it may take a little longer than normal for the peeling to start. If usually begins in the center of the face and works its way to the outside. I'd avoid picking any of the areas as this can lead to scabbing. Best of luck and I hope you love your results!~Dr. Sieber

Our patients usually experience dramatic improvement in their skin by day 10.  Some report flaking that can be significant but others have minimal flaking but each patient has noted marked improvement in their overall skin texture and reflectivity.

The brown spots will naturally come off on its own. You should be noticing it within the next couple of days. It could come off in sheets if the treatment was intense.  Keep putting on moisturizer to avoid letting the skin dry out and protect your skin with a physical sun block when you go outside.  If you are still concerned then follow up with your treating physician.

Though I would say it looks like it a bit delayed but you surely are going to have a much improved result. Usually the peel occurs faster than 6 days, but everyone is different and it all depends on the parameters of treatment administered. Give a few weeks and you will love your results.
