Dental bonding or veneers after Invisalign? Should I expect much better results with veneers? (Photos)

Question

I just got my invisalign done and it was recommended for me to do 6 veneers for the spacing the orthodontist left. I would like a second opinion if someone is willing to help. I am also considering dental bonding to save my teeth. I am in my mid 30's and want to make sure i can preserve the teeth. I am told veneer can last 10-20 years if I take care of them but i'm not sure is that realistic with patients average. Should i expect much better results with veneers? Thanks for helping!

Congratulations on finishing Invisalign! It looks like you are missing you upper lateral incisors and the canine teeth have been moved into their position. I completely agree with your dentist wanting to place 6 veneers. Porcelain veneers are the best option to fix your situation. Having spaces between straight teeth is an ideal situation for veneers, as they can be prepped very conservatively. If you want to chose a lighter shade, I would recommend placing 8 veneers. 
Depending on the type and quality of porcelain, veneers can last decades if properly cared for! Make sure your dentist places a lot of veneers and does impeccable work. This can definitely make the difference on how long they last.
Bonding on the other hand is a plastic material that discolors over time. This material would need to be changed more frequently, and is very technique sensitive. There are very few dentist who can place bonding that looks as good as porcelain veneers.

The issue often is that the teeth aren't quite the ideal shape, so that no matter how you move them in your smile, they don't create the perfect smile.  Veneers, on the other hand, offer incredible flexibility. The materials available today can create incredible long-term smiles that are going to provide you with what you are looking for...  just make sure you are working with a skilled dentist - there are several in your area.  
My suggestion would be to look at 4 or 8 as doing 6 generally ends up looking like you have veneers where 4 or 6 hits a more natural break in the smile and looks more realistic...  Of course there are exceptions, but if the canine teeth don't have issues, I'd see about dialing in the smile with 4 veneers.

Hi:Porcelain veneers are a much better choice, not only they will look more natural but will last much longer than bonding.  Bonding gets stained and can chip easily.Best,Dr. Maddahi
