Can you dye your hair prior to Eyelid Surgery?

When should I dye my hair prior to my blepharoplasty? Do I have to wash my hair prior to the surgery with antibacterial soap or can I use regular shampoo? Can I use hair conditioner that rinses out?

Yes, you can color your hair prior to eyelid surgery.  I would probably wait a few weeks before coloring the hair following a blepharoplasty.  Consult with your surgeon.  Good luck!

And if you do only the eyelids, you can dye your hair again about 2 weeks later.  The dye would not damage the surgery, but your eyes may be sensitive to the perfumes and chemicals.  You can use hair conditioner at anytime before and after the surgery.

It is safe to dye your hair before a blepharoplasty.  I have my patients wait for 6 weeks after surgery before having their hair dyed.  In regards to washing your hair with antibiotic soap, I do not think it is necessary although it will not hurt.   You are free to use conditioner.

Therte is no reason that you couldn't dye your hair before am eyelid surgery. Some surgeons prefer an antibacterial soap while many feel that using regular shampoo has the same benefit. Conditioner can be used before or after eyelid surgery.Robert Singer, MD  FACS La jolla, California

First and foremost, ask you surgeon. In general, you can color your hair at any time before surgery. Shampoo for good hygiene but antibacterial soap is not necessary.Best wishes
