A portion my teeth is chipped off from the edge (one week before) and its dentine is exposed. But there is no pain. My dentist told me that I should undergo a root canal. I would like to know if it is necessary to undergo. What will be the future consequences if root canal is not done ?

Answer: Exposed Dentin Does Not Always Mean Root Canal
It would not be a problem to have the gap reestablished between your front two teeth. This would probably require you to replace the crowns. Good luck.
You cannot reshade a crown once it has been placed in the mouth. The good news is that it is the furthest tooth in the back of your mouth and no one but you or your dentist will see it. As for the roughness, it can be smoothed after it has been cemented. If it bothers you that...
Remember crowns don't hurt the tooth under them is what causes the pain. If after 3 months the tooth still hurts you may be better off having a root canal done to remove the nerve and stop the discomfort good luck
