Can micro-needling for raised scar tissue be done over tattooed skin?

I want to have micro-needling done to flatten raised scar tissue, however I had the area tattooed to conceal the scar. Can micro-needling still be performed?

Not recommended. Microneedling will break up the scar tissue, and as the skin is healing it can pull out the pigment from the tattoo. Depending on the scar multiple treatments will be needed. If you decide to treat the area, you will most likely have to have the tattoo touched up. Hope this helps.

Great question. Microneedling causes little holes to form in the skin. This helps to break up scar tissue and improve the quality of the skin. It also can result in some of the tattoo pigment being released from the skin as it heals.
