Due to a hormonal imbalance, my weight has always fluctuated, but I did not know the cause until recently. In recent years, I've weighed the most I ever had, but I am working hard to lose it. I've been wanting a breast reduction for years now (currently 21) but I am worried that I will not be a good candidate since my weight is subject to changes often. Even if I meet my target weight for surgery, is it even worth it if there's a high possibility I will gain and/or lose weight post surgery?
Answer: Breast reduction When considering a breast reduction it is best if you reach your target weight prior to surgery to give your surgeon the chance to optimize your results. If you gain or lose significant weight in the future your results could be impacted. Small weight fluctuations should not cause much change.

Answer: If I meet my target weight for surgery, is it even worth it if I will gain and/or lose weight post-surgery? Weight loss and gain is probably the number one reason breast reduction results are compromised over time. I would recommend holding off until you are able to get things fairly stable.

Answer: Weight gain/loss Thanks for your question! I do think that a breast reduction surgery could benefit you, but you should find out what is causing the frequent weight fluctuations as well. It's important for your health to try and regulate that. Good luck!

Answer: Breast reduction Dear Glorious6473, breast reduction is best suited for women who wish to decrease the size of their breasts. While there are different techniques used to perform this surgery, I prefer the vertical incision (lollipop pattern) breast reduction technique instead of the anchor scar pattern, which reduces more noticeable scarring than usual. I also use a SAFE liposuction technique to reduce additional fat around the stubborn axilla area and bra line. This way, my patients are achieving beautiful results with minimal incisions which reduces downtime and delivers an overall better breast shape long term.If you are considering breast reduction surgery, you should consult with a board certified plastic surgeon to discuss your options and make sure your surgeon understands your goals. Only after a thorough examination you will get more information and recommendations. Answer: Bellesoma Breast Reduction The technique I recommend is The Bellesoma Method. This will reduce and reshape your breast tissue creating upper pole fullness without implants, elevate them higher on the chest and more medial to increase your cleavage. The weight of the breast is transferred to the underlying pectoralis major muscle resulting in pain relief without excessive reduction. Vertical scars are avoided, nipple sensation (in 95%) and the ability to breast feed are maintained. If you gain or lose weight, your breasts will gain or lose volume but will not sag. Best Wishes, Gary Horndeski, M.D.
