Would it be a waste of money to get braces? I have crowding, an overbite, and a chip in my front tooth (Photo)

I'm almost 19. When I was younger I sucked my thumb and now have an overbite. I have crowding on the bottom and on the top also they slightly cross in the back. I am wondering if it would be a waste of money to get braces. Also how long would i need them? (when I went to the orthodontist with my sister they told me about a year and a half). Also.. I chipped my front tooth, which I haven't went to the dentist for. I'm self conscious of them and I would get traditional braces if I got them.

I'm sure most of your friends got braces at 13 or 14 but 19 is still very young. If you start now your treatment will be done before you are out of college and out in the workforce. At this age you may still have insurance benefits that will help financially. Lastly, you have your whole life ahead of you, having a beautiful smile will be a confidence boost that will last for the ret of your life.

I would certainly recommend braces for you.  I would recommend getting the chipped tooth fixed after your orthodontic treatment.
