Regretting 6 month smiles! I want to have them taken off midway. Would Damon Braces be a better option? (Photo)

I got the 6 month smiles braces about 2 months ago and I regret the decision. 3 weeks in I knew it was a huge mistake. I have developed a severe overjet, a narrow arch causing my smile to look tight, my top teeth have flared and my chin looks sunken . The dentist who put the braces on doesn't seem to know what he is doing and everything thing seems like a trial and error experiment no matter how much I voice my concerns to him. Can the issues presented be corrected by Damon clear braces.

It is not possible just looking at the one photo you have posted, to determine how your treatment is going. My advise to you is that if you have questions regarding the treatment in progress, get an opinion from an orthodontist (or two), and then understand the options going forward. "Damon" braces is a highly well marketed tool, but at the end of the day, it is making the correct diagnosis and treatment plan that is the most important first step, regardless of which method is used to achieve the results. Of course, you also need to have a provider who follows through with good technique, but techniques can vary, provider skill is what makes a technique work or fail.

You are absolutely right, 6 months braces is a big mistake. Looking at the placement of the bracket on the photo you provided, you should run from the dentist who places brackets like in your case shown. My advise to request removal of those brackets asap and seek help in a professional free standing orthodontic facility. Damon braces is just a name. It is about the doctor who is using the tool called Damon brackets. Damon or not Damon they are pretty much the same and depend on the doctor who is using them. Find a good orthodontist. Good luck.

Unfortunately 6 months smiles is not doing your treatment.  You paid your dentist to do your orthodontic care.  Using Damon braces doesn't change anything because your treatment relies on the skill level and experience of your doctor.  The braces are simply a tool.Dentists can all do braces but they are not the most qualified doctors to provide braces.  Only a dentist who has completed a 2 to 3 year program at an accredited orthodontic residency can be called an orthodontist.
