How to manage skin after Accutane?

Question

Ever since I ended accutane, my skin has been very dull, the skin tone and texture is very uneven, I have a lot of hyperpigmentation, and I've developed wrinkles on my forehead. I can't afford super expensive treatments, but I was wondering if y'all could recommend products or affordable treatments to help my concerns? I have black skin so what works for a white person in regards to uneven skin tone may work differently for me, so please take that into consideration.

Accutane is a go-to medication for patients with recalcitrant cystic acne. It can reduce pore size and also reduce sebum production in your skin, making it less oily; and in turn, dryer. Accutane can be used to control acne, but patients receiving the medication should be carefully monitored. In terms of skincare, always wear an appropriate sunscreen and reduce direct sun exposure. In my patients, I recommend a good ceramide moisturizer such as Elevase whenever they are on Accutane. This will keep the skin hydrated and reduce the oiliness of the skin that is associated with oil-based moisturizers.

We routinely give our patients a comprehensive skincare program to continue even after stopping Accutane and even while taking Accutane. It sounds like once you stopped Accutane your natural skin tendencies came back. You must be on a comprehensive skincare program that includes making the skin healthy and rejuvenating the skin. You should be formally evaluated by a dermatologist.
