I was doing some research and came across an article about the "owl" breast reduction technique developed by Dr. Oscar Ramirez. It seems to have an advantage over the inferior pedicle in its ability to maintain its shape long term & lack of horizontal scar, and since it preserves all of the breast tissue under the areola it doesn't affect lactation or nipple sensation. This technique seems perfect to me so I'm wondering what other surgeons' thoughts are? Why is it so uncommon?
