I am at 12 wks post DIEP 2 and the hip scars were moved down 2 cm. They are VERY itchy and VERY purple esp. compared to last time (12 mos ago) where they were just red. When wearing silicone sheets, swelling is obvious by days' end. As I continue to heal, will purple fade? Should I see a PS here about it. Original surgeon is out of state.

Most surgeons typically will order a CTA of the abdomen and pelvis prior to a DIEP flap to make sure your vessels are patent in order to perform the DIEP. It’s not 100% guarantee until we start the surgery and start the dissection. But, the imaging is a good baseline.
Unfortunately, radiation is the gift that keeps on giving. It may be radiation necrosis of some subcutaneous fat, but during the revision they can biopsy the tissue.
