I had the hair in my inner thigh removed with laser treatment a few hours ago and noticed a lot of scarring. I'd had laser hair removal done in my bikini line (in a different place) and this never happened. Is this permanent? Did it only happen because I didn't shave before the appointment? (Those were the instructions in this particular place.)

Dear writer, What you are experiencing now after the session of laser hair removal, typically will resolve completely. Commonly, a mild to moderate potency cortisone cream is applied in combination with an antibiotic ointment such as mupirocin twice daily for one week to expedite resolution. Please consult your provider regarding the feasibility of you using these. Be sure to avoid sun exposure for one to two months!

Scarring takes weeks/months to show up, so it is too early to say you have scarring. Most importantly, make sure the medical clinic where you are receiving treatment has a dermatologist on site to manage these marks effectively ; it also ensures that you are using the best medical grade lasers such as diode or Nd:Yag based lasers for your hair removal which gives the best results and are the safest.
