24th March 2015 i did ipl hair removal but it's burn my upper lips. Ipl level was 31. I m using antibiotics ointments and alo vera get. It's present condition as in pictures. I am a Asian girl. Will it make permanent dark spot? What can i do to avoid dark spot? If it make scars or dark marks is it possible to remove?

Thank you for your question.Contact the provider who performed your laser hair removal service to schedule a follow-up appointment to review how to care for the burns. Also,  another laser is available rather than IPL for hair removal that is safe for all skin types to be treated. To be sure what other lasers would work best for you, see two or more board-certified providers in your area for a complete evaluation to make sure you are a good candidate and that it is safe for you to have treatment.I hope this helps.

Our treatments use combination therapy to improve the epidermis and dermis for most deep scars. The options available for acne scars depend on the character of your scars, in terms of topography and contour. We see atrophic and hypertrophic acne scars, as well as scars that have hypo and hyperpigmentation. We begin each scar evaluation with an assessment of scar quality and subtype. Our main concern is rebuilding collagen and that is why we use a HIDEF protocol that includes combination therapy. Morpheus 8, scar subcision, fibrous release, fractional laser, CO2 laser, Thulium laser, PDL Vbeam laser, and fractional resurfacing can be used in addition to TCA Cross and chemical peels to further improve skin. Patients should start Melarase AM and Melarase PM for active hyperpigmentation. Always begin with a consultation to decide whether early subcision should be started.

IPL for hair removal is not the standard anymore as other lasers are much better and safer in darker skin types.  I suggest seeing a cosmetic dermatologist with experience who can treat these burns so you do not get permanent scarring or hyperpigmentation.  Best, Dr. Emer.
