I have taken Accutane (10 mg) during 3 months and stopped the treatment about 6 months ago. Is it safe to conceive?

Also, I was wondering why are there so many news on the internet saying that Acnetane was put out of the market, when it is still sold in the pharmacy.

As  long as you had a negative pregnancy test 30 days after your last dose of Accutane, it is technically ok for you to go ahead and attempt conception.  The protocol we use is the Ipledge system, which requires a patient to have a negative pregnancy test, wait 30 days and have a second negative pregnancy test, take the medication under the direction of the dermatologist with regular monthly visits and negative tests, but then ok to proceed with any future life plans after that last pregnancy test is negative 30 days after the very last dose.  As far as I know, Accutane has never been pulled off the market.  It is a very good effective drug for severe nodulocystic acne as long as the pregnancy prevention guidelines are followed exactly.

The brand name of Accutane itself no longer exists. But there are many available versions of isotretinoin, which is what Accutane is. It is safe to conceive 30 days after stopping Accutane per the FDA's guidelines. "This answer has been solicited without seeing this patient and
