What does a lost graft look like after 7 days?

It is not likely that this signifies graft loss. After 7 days, it is not likely. In the first 3 days when this can occur, it would be marked by a noticeable bleeding at the site of dislodgement. You are outside the timeline for this and the symptomatology does not support that you lost grafts. That said, do contact your hair transplant doctor for guidance.

If you believe you lost a graft, it is best to contact your doctor.  A  graft may be the size of a grain of rice. 

Transplanted graft’s hair starts to shedding in the first week of surgery and may go on untill 4-6 th weeks after surgery. İt is not surprising to lost approx.  %70-80 of all transplanted hair shafts in first month when you are washing, gently rubbing  or touching the head.İt is shock loss and not permanent.New hair at transplant/recipient area starts to grow at 3-4 th month after surgery .

If they fell out naturally without pulling or any sort of effort then you shouldn't be concerned. In most patients all or close to all of the transplanted hairs will fall out between a week and two months following the surgery. What you are describing is probably just this process- the hairs should start growing back over the next 6 months. Unless they are being pulled or bleeding when they fall out it is unlikely a lost graft.

It is normal for the scabs to come off at day 8 when they are massaged lightly during shampooing.

After a hair transplant, it is normal for the hairs to start falling out after about 2 weeks.  When patients return to my office for examination in 10 days, they have just started to shed.  When the hair shaft sheds, it is not uncommon to see that "little ball" at the end of the hair.  That is the distal end of the hair shaft.  If you lost the hair and the follicle, it would have a good amount of bleeding as the actual follicle is receiving blood flow at that time.

I don't like the idea of anyone removing grafts that have scabs on them because we have published a paper in a formal medical journal, that when a person pulls off a scab (crust) from a recipient area in less than 12 days, the risk of losing the graft is very high.
