Septoplasty pain is minimal compared to other procedures.Kenneth Hughes, MDBeverly Hills, CA..........
Hi there,Septoplasty should hurt much less than a tonsillectomy. Most patients use the pain pills only for a few days after a septoplasty. They usually describe it as having a head cold since it is hard to breath through the nose. Some doctors use internal nasal splints, which can be uncomfortable and make it difficult to breath. In my practice, I prefer not using nasal splints to make the recovery more comfortable.Hope this helps!Good luck
A tonsillectomy hurts much worse than a septoplasty due to the fact that there is raw tissue in the back of the throat on each side where the tonsils were removed which is right next to the muscles in the throat that contract every time patients are swallowing saliva. A septoplasty is not very painful, as long as your surgeon does not place packing/ splints on the inside of the nose. The worst part about a septoplasty as that the nose is very congested for a week or 2 after the surgery.
Dear 9aliyah, Tonsillectomy is a much more painful procedure then septoplasty. The majority of Septoplasty patients do not complain of any pain. Some patients complain of some slight congestion post surgery however Septoplasty is typically a very quick and pain free recovery. Best regards, Michael V. Elam, M.D.

Thanks for the question and the photos. I have seen patients with this type of piercing before. It can cause stretching and bowing of the columella by exerting pressure in this area. Correction involves repair of the perforation and rotation of the tip cartilages. Obviously you would not want to...
