I am 34 years old with no previous medical history and I'm currently breastfeeding. Because Botox, Fillers, Retinol and Hydroquinone are all non-options while breastfeeding, I am looking for safe anti-aging options to treat and prevent pigmentation & wrinkles. From a medical perspective, I don't see how lasers could affect the quality of breast milk or milk supply, but would love clarification here and if the topical numbing creams used pre-procedure are safe for BF, also. Thanks so much!

Answer: BBL treatments during breastfeeding. Hello and thank you for your question. BBL is safe during breastfeeding and an excellent treatment option for anti-aging and treating and preventing pigmentation issues (so long as it is not melasma). It has become one of my preferred treatments due to how remarkable the results can be with little to no down time. It is usually done without numbing cream. For most people, the discomfort is not great enough to need it; also, the provider will want feed back on what you are feeling during the test spots and the treatment to gauge whether the settings are right for your skin. It may be OK to apply numbing cream if needed if the BBL Hero is used or if you have been treated before and your provider knows what are the limits of energy that your skin can accept. BBL Hero uses a lot more pulses but with lower energy settings, so should be very safe in experienced hands.
