I noticed that at the gum line on one side of my crown it looks to be gray but not the other side. The tooth in question is the very back molar in the picture. I am concerned that something may be wrong under the crown or gum line. Thank you!

Several things can make it important to extract a crowned tooth. These include root fracture, extensive root decay, or advanced periodontal disease. All these conditions will not show by just looking on the tooth. I suggest that you further discuss the issue with your dentist. Good luck
