What is the dark spot in the middle of my new crown? (Photo)

Hello there,It appears that you have a porcelain fused to metal crown and the dark spot is the underlying metal showing through.  I would recommend returning to your dentist for another adjustment since your crown is still high and addressing the dark spot on your crown.  I use Zirconia for my patients rather than PFM. Thank you for posting your question.  As you have mentioned the crown feels too big and high. It is likely that when the bite was adjusted the porcelain was removed and the underlying metal is showing through.  The tooth was likely under prepared and resulted in a bulky crown.  An alternative to porcelain fused to metal crowns are All porcelain crowns that have no metal under structure.  Sufficient tooth structure still needs to be removed but metal will not show.  Hope this helps!  Good Luck!      

The picture is too small. The dark spot could be a spot of exposed metal under the porcelain. This may happen with too much grinding to correct a high spot on a new crown. You mentioned that the crown is still high. Consult with your dentist to correct the issue. 

It looks like a thin area of the crown where either the metal is showing through or exposed.  Typically this indicates that the tooth was underprepared on the top and there is insufficient room for porcalain thickness.
