You will need to be in touch with your surgeon's office to see their protocol. I personally leave small gaps between each steristrip to allow for drainage, I then have the patients maintain their steristrips for about 3 weeks. This helps keep tension off the repair and keep gentile pressure on the healing incision. This helps give the best final scar. Good luck.
Dear Latina 2017,every plastic surgeon has his own postoperative protocol which he recommends to his patients. I would suggest you to discuss this with your plastic surgeon.Daniel Barrett, MDCertified, American Board of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery
Hello and thank you for your question, I usually remove the steri-strips approximately 2 weeks after surgery but it is very likely for some patients to have them fall off sooner. In that case, there have been times where I have re-applied the steri-strips on the patient. Steri-strips do indeed help protect the wound but there are some patients who react with redness and irritation. For those patients who experience an adverse reaction, the steri-strips are removed. I usually do not advise placing other tapes on without speaking with your plastic surgeon. I would certainly encourage you to follow up with your plastic surgeon and see what he/she advises. Good luck!
Every surgeon has different post op care instructions, I personally do not use tape I tell my patients to keep the incisions dry. Continue to follow up with your PS.
You should call the clinic or your doctor himself to response to your postop questions. Most reve tape by day 7. But each surgeon has their own methods!
Thank you for your question. Unfortunately I cannot answer it for you as this is determined by your plastic surgeon. every surgeon has a different protocol for their postoperative management. I do not even use tapes after this type of surgery. It is best if you follow-up with your plastic surgeon so you can avoid complications.
Hello dear thanks for your question. The cures you must do or not depends on your plastic surgeon, each plastic surgeon can give you different recommendations according to their experience. I recommend that you contact your surgeon and talk with him / her about your concern to guide you.Best regards.Dr. Jimenez ToribioPlastic and Reconstructive Surgeon.
In general, I like the tapes to stay on 2 weeks after surgery. Check in with your surgeon for his instructions.
Hello and thank you for your question. I would contact your plastic surgeon's office and ask them how long they want your steri strips to stay in place. Best of luck!
