Does CoolSculpting on upper arms affect Nexplanon implant?

Question

I have the Nexplanon implant in my left arm. It's located on the inside of my arm near my bicep and between the fat and muscle tissues. I would like to have Coolsculpting to remove "bingo wings" but don't know if it will mess up my hormonal/birth control implant. Thanks!

Coolsculpting should not affect the implant, but this area should be avoided. Keep in mind, for best results, a combination approach with other non-invasive treatments is needed and some people need more than one treatment with Coolsculpting. I recommend adding radiofrequency treatments like Vanquish for skin tightening and with Z wave/Cellutone for skin smoothing. However, a Vaser with ThermiRF procedure is the best combination for a toned result, but requires more downtime. See an expert. Best, Dr. Emer

As long as that area is avoided during treatment, Coolsculpting will not impact your implant. CoolSculpting is a great option, because it is non-invasive with little to no down-time. Most patients opt to get re-treatments in the same area for maximum results of up to 40-50% fat cell reduction.  I suggest scheduling an in-person consultation with a physician so you can be evaluated and given recommendations.

Hi Autum28. Coolsculpting should have no impact on the hormone implant, as long as the receptacle does not cover the implant. Typically, the implant is located much higher up on the inner arm. The Coolsculpting receptacle is placed much lower on the back of the arm thus avoiding the implant. I would, however, have your Coolsculpting provider locate the implant and physically place the receptacle on your arm as a test to assure the placement will not overlap the implant.
