I recently had bonding done to my lateral incisors to make them appear longer. After one day, one side split in half leaving half resin on my teeth. I went back to my dentist to get it fixed and instead of filing off the leftover resin, he just re-bonded the whole tooth over the previous resin. Three days later, the new bonding fell off leaving the old resin to remain again. Should he have taken off the old resin?

Over
time, bonding could wear a little, but not that fast. Sometimes excess clear
bonding agent, the “glue” that holds the filling to the tooth, will break off
soon after an appointment. This is extra bonding agent that would be over an
area that wasn’t etched and losing it won’t hurt the act...
If the filling feels rough you should return to your dentist and have it further polished. We have the ability to make the bonding feel smooth. It has been way too long so it will not happen on its own
