How Do You Properly Use Tazorac gel?

Started tazorac and minocycline a few days ago,already some redness and peeling,i have heard different ways to apply 1) mix taz an lotion then apply 2)every 3 days then every 2 days 3)wash face then lotion then taz for 15 mins then wash off 4) wash face,lotion then taz all night which is the best way?will it help with red/brown scars also will it help with indented scars,will it make pores bigger or smaller,will it help with bad skin texture also should i apply to my whole face or just acne areas

In my experience, I recommend that patients apply a very thin moisturizer to their face followed by a pea-size amount (same size as a kernel of corn) of the Tazorac gel to the entire face.  I advise patients to take the pea-size amount and to dab it evenly onto the forehead, chin, and cheeks and then to spread it very thinly over the entire face.  If the Tazorac is too drying then start applying it every other night or every 3rd night and then gradually work your way up to every evening.  I recommend that patients use cooler water when washing their face with a mild cleanser twice daily.  It may help fade the red/brown discoloration and the skin texture. Give the medication at least 4-6 weeks before you may notice a difference.
