You can absolutely get a Halo without taking prednisone. The majority of our patients don't take prednisone, only those that want to everything they can to minimize any swelling. The swelling that occurs will still go away within a week whether you take prednisone or not.Andrew Campbell, M.D.Facial Rejuvenation SpecialistQuintessa
Hi and thanks for your question!I generally do not recommend that patients use prednisone after a Halo laser. Halo creates a pattern of tiny holes in the top layer of skin, and then your body will rush to heal those holes with fresh new glowing skin. Prednisone will block the normal healing function of the skin during this time.If you are a person who gets really big welts when you get a bug bite, you might be prone to more swelling after a Halo laser. In that case, I would recommend taking 800 mg of ibuprofen an hour before the procedure, and use 25-50 mg oral Benedryl after the procedure to control swelling.Hope this helps!
You're golden. We did the original research on Halo back in 2013 and have been using it every day since. Biopsies have shown that the swelling from Halo goes through the histamine, not inflammatory pathway, so the best way to treat the swelling ISN'T prednisone! It's sleeping upright as much as possible and taking benadryl (or claritin or allegra) PLUS tagamet, pepcid or benadryl.
Halo can cause pretty significant swelling in some cases. its not entirely predictable who will swell and who wont. We will prescribe prednisone to some patients with a known history of swelling with other procedures and on a case by case basis. It is absolutely not necessary to take prednisone after the procedure and taking it does not alter the final results of the procedure, it merely makes some of the post procedure a bit more comfortable.
This needs an in-person evaluation. I suggest seeing a hair loss expert now to evaluate and go over your condition and provide you information about your best treatment options. There are great non-invasive options like prp/progesterone and/or hair transplantation. See an expert. Best, Dr. Emer
Hello, At our practice, we recommend waiting 2 weeks to get Halo after a filler procedure, and that is mostly to allow the swelling and bruising to resolve and let the filler settle into the tissue. There is no problem with waiting longer but I wouldn't treat sooner than 2 weeks after...
Actually, just the opposite. There is now >20 year data on BBL and I had the very first Halo prototype from 12/14 - the patients who do these treatments 2-4 times per year look younger when they started, both in pictures and on biopsy and also have thicker skin with more collagen and elasticity....
Halo is an excellent choice around the eyes for skin laxity. We have been doing this for a few years as an alternative to surgery with great, quick results. Your physician is doing the right thing by placing eye shields for increased safety and also adding more treatment...
This is one of our favorite areas to treat with Halo. It works best when combined with PDO threads for additional collagen building and support. Most patients find they do best with 2-3 treatments in the first year, and then 1-2 treatments per year for maintenance.
Thank you for your question! No it will not be. Your face will go through the normal healing process post laser treatment and become more resilient likely after treatment. Be sure to follow your pre and post care protocols to ensure excellent results as well as seeing a board certified physician...
