Thyroid Eye Disease after 2 years, does something look wrong with my right eye? (Photos)

Question

Last year,I uploaded here a photo of my eyes during my 1st year of having mild TED(photo at the bottom). After 2 years ,here’s the current state of my eyes. You may notice a huge difference between my eyes before than now. It looks way better than before. But I just noticed that my right eye is higher than my left,and it really looks weird. Do you think there’s also something wrong with my right eye? And also, since more than 2 years had past, is it the right time to undergo blepharoplasty?

You have right upper eyelid ptosis and likely bulging both eyes. See an oculoplastic surgeon for evaluation and treatment.

It appears you have a good deal of asymmetry between the eyes, and would benefit from thyroid work up and evaluation by an experienced ocular plastic surgeon.  Without an exam, it will not be possible to fully evaluate you and give you recommendations.

You have proptosis of your left eye which is essentially bulging. I would see an oculoplastic surgeon who can address the bulging and eyelid malposition. I am not sure why you would ask about blepharoplasty because that surgery would not be appropriate right now for you. In fact anyone who recommended that at this stage would be a fool.

You are right - there is a huge difference in the eyes compared to two years ago. See an oculoplastic specialist to confirm your diagnosis and recommend treatment. In the older photograph, it appears that you have lid retraction on the right, and pseudoptosis on the left. Now it appears that you have ptosis on the left. An examination is very important to be sure that the right upper lid is no longer shows signs of retraction and that the problem is truly with the left lid. A simple blepharoplasty is not going to correct the lid position in your situation. See an expert. Best wishes.

It appears that you have proptosis or exophthalmus, which is a manifestation of Graves Disease. A blepharoplasty or eyelid lift will not help you. To improve the appearance of your eyes, you will need to undergo orbital decompression surgery. Best wishes.
