Surgical removal of sweat glands is an effective way of reduce bad smell but it’s can lead to poor scarring and complications. MiraDry is very effective at non-invasive destruction of sweat glands with very minimal risks or downtime. An effective treatment for hyperhidrosis would cause a dramatic improvement in any odors caused by sweat produced by apocrine sweat glands.  There are a few treatment options, some of which are theoretically permanent.  A smartlipo laser can be used to destroy the sweat glands underneath the skin, and should cause a significant permanent reduction in sweat and subsequently odor.  Miradry is another permanent procedure that uses microwaves to destroy the sweat glands.  Botox is probably the most popular treatment, and works very well, but is only temporary.  It can last between 3-9 months, with around 4-6 being most likely.  All procedures should help with odor caused by sweat.

You should ask your dermatologist about MiraDry, although Botox also might be helpful temporarily.  The sweat glands in the armpits are not necessary for temperature control, so you will still be able to exercise and will enjoy greatly reduced sweat and odor.  Most patients only need one treatment, but some need two, which gives even better results.  Best of luck!

If you're referring to the underarm excessive sweating, then you have many options available to you. One of the simplest options is injecting Botox into the area that produces sweat. This will stop the sweat as well as the odor for approximately 6 months. Another way is to treat your underarms with Miradry and the last option is to perform selective liposuction on the underside of the skin of the armpit and that will reduce sweating considerably and permanently. Thank you for your question.I'm sorry to hear about your struggles. An effective treatment for excessive sweating is Botox injections. Botox injections helps decrease the sweating which in turn can decrease bad odors. However, results are temporary and maintenance injections are needed to maintain results. There are other procedures such as Miradry, which are also effective. I highly recommend you consult with a board certified dermatologist to have your skin evaluated and to discuss appropriate treatment options. miraDry can work to treat the apocrine and eccrine glands due to non selective destruction via microwave energy. If the smell is due to excessive sweating, Botox may also work, however if the smell is due to apocrine gland dysfunction, Botox will not work.
