I justs had 7,8,9,10 seated and am wondering if they appear too big for my smile? I've been staring at them for too long and need a second opinion. I'm going for follow up this Thursday so is there any suggestion on embrasure adjustment? I wondered if 8 and 9 were rounded at the distal edge if that's what would make me happier with the result. Is it just me? So you think a little rounding would make it better?
Answer: How Should My Veneers Look? Obviously we have no knowledge of what your teeth looked like before the veneers were placed but it looks like the final product is excellent. As a general rule, female teeth are more rounded than male teeth; so if you are female you may want to try softening the corners of #8 and #9 and possibly consider opening the incisal embrasure very slightly between the same two teeth. I think you can trust the judgement of your cosmetic dentist as it very much appears he/she knows what they are doing.Good luck!

Answer: Adjusting New Veneers for a Better Smile Fit It's common to question the appearance of new veneers, especially if they seem too large. Discussing the size and shape, particularly the rounding of the distal edges of teeth 8 and 9, during your follow-up could indeed help achieve a more satisfying result. Sometimes, slight adjustments like these can significantly enhance how the veneers integrate with your smile. Your dentist can provide a professional opinion and make the necessary modifications to make sure you’re happy with the outcome.

Answer: My opinion on 7,8,9,10 Number 7 and 10 look a little too bulbous to me. That's not necessarily something that most non dentist will notice,, so it's up to you on whether to mention it. Then number 8 and 9 look a little fake to me because of the lack of contouring on the edges. They are a bit overriding in the presentation of your smile. With this said, I do not wish to disparage your doctor because I did not see your teeth before he started. It's just that veneers are what I do, so you can "Follow" me on Real Self to ask more questions about them.Sarah Thompson, DMD

Answer: Do my veneers look right to you? When you say "too big", what exactly do you mean? Too wide, too long, too thick or you just don't like the shape.Did you have a "preview" of what they would look like before the final prescription was sent to the ceramist to make your veneers? That is the best time to go over those elements, it actually acts as a "test drive" to tell the ceramist how you want them made.And....did your dentist let you see them in your mouth before bonding your new veneers into place? Did you "approve of them", either in writing or verbally? One thing very important to understand is that oftentimes there is no "right or wrong" or "one way of doing things" with veneers. Much depends on the artistry of the dentist and ceramist and the likes and dislikes of the patient. Above all, communication between all parties is crucial. Answer: Do my Veneers Look Right? (photos) The art with making porcelain veneers is to make them look like you. When you have a change in your smile, sometimes it's hard to adjust to if it looks right on you.Once they are seated, there are limited options. In general you would have had temporary veneers first. Did you like those? Most of the time, a good cosmetic dentist will make sure you are really happy with the temporaries, and then transfer any other subtleties needed into the final porcelain veneers. Usually the final veneers are an even better version of what's been improved in your smile. It's difficult to tell a lot from your photo. In general I feel they are OK.Your cosmetic dentist can simulate the embrasure change you inquired about. I would do that first, to make sure you like it, BEFORE having any of the porcelain removed. I would either darken it in your mouth as a simulation or use Photoshop to modify a photo and see how you like the change, then do the re-shaping. Once the porcelain is removed it cannot be added back.Make a short list of your thoughts, then discuss it with your dentist. Some enhancements may be possible, some may not. He can sort out for you what can still realistically be done.
