If I’m not pregnant but have a high prolactin level, would that prevent me from being able to get a breast reduction?

Your board certified PS would require clearance from your OB/GYN because a pregnancy test is administered the morning of surgery. If your test comes back positive, the breast reduction would have to be cancelled unless your OB/GYN can verify that it is a false positive.

you might need a clearance from your surgeon prior to surgery. Breast reduction is best suited for women who wish to decrease the size of their breasts. While there are different techniques used to perform this surgery, I prefer the vertical incision (lollipop pattern) breast reduction technique instead of the anchor scar pattern, which reduces more noticeable scarring than usual. Hello and thank you for your question . Your plastic surgeon will ask for medical clearance most likely from your ob /gyn or pcp as well as negative pregnancy test the morning of surgery ,you should be okay to go ahead w a reduction.

This would not contraindicate surgery but if it produces a positive pregnancy test, you would need gynecological clearance for the anesthesiologist.
