I was suggested to have a round of Fractora done to address minor wrinkles, acne scarring, and light melasma. I am 29 years old and Asian with skin type 3. I am not sure if it will make my melasma worse (so far I respond well to peels and had neutral response to Fraxel Restore Dual) and if a lower frequency should be used.

Answer: Creams with laser Melasma is a very hard condition to treat, and recurrence is the rule. I never use lasers as first line treatment, however I do employ QSL (Q switch lasers) or Picosure along with medically prescribed creams such as Hydroquinone and Vitamin A. Gentle laser treatments are best for melasma, as for the safety of Fractora after Juvederm- all is good with that one!BestDr Davin Lim Laser DermatologistBrisbane, Australia.

Answer: Fractora for Asian skin with melasma I have been using the Fractora now for several years. One thing I have found is that with the most superficial tip (Fractora allows the technician to use different treatment tips for different skin depths), it can help to break up melasma for some patients. Now I will tell you that it hasn't worked for everyone and I certainly wish I could tell you the exact parameters of why, but it's something I've been studying for about 6 months. Overall, I would say the majority of patients have seen results, it's just that some have been more dramatic than others. "This answer has been solicited without seeing this patient and cannot be held as true medical advice, but only opinion. Seek in-person treatment with a trained medical professional for appropriate care."
