Depending upon the type of liposuction- laser or ultrasound assisted vs pal- and a person's presentation- amount of lax skin and fat present- it can take several weeks to months for skin reshaping. An exam and consultation with a plastic surgeon is recommended to discuss your options and expectations.
With my hi definition results, patients see results immediately and the skin tightens even more as the weeks to months goes on. You can add thermiRF and/or velashape/venus legacy to get even more results and quicker healing. Best, Dr. Emer.
The skin redrapes fairly quickly, especially when compression garments are worn. Excess fluid build-up can interfere with that and exercise in the involved areas too early can also interfere.
After Tumescent Liposuction, your skin is "redraped" immediately. However, after liposuction surgery, you will be swollen. This swelling typically lasts for about 3 months. Most of the swelling will likely be gone in about 6 weeks. This is when you will see the most shrinkage, but the remaining swelling and firmness you feel in your skin will take about 3-6 months to be gone. As this happens, your skin may settle a little. How much it settles will depend on your skin tone prior to surgery. If your skin was loose, prior to lipo, it'll be even more loose after. If you have a large volume of fat removed, then it'll definitely be more loose after. DiscoverTheBeauty.com

Numbness is present when swelling is present, and you are not even 3 weeks out from surgery so you will still have a fair amount of swelling. It takes about 6 months to completely heal and have all the swelling subside with liposuction. Most have normal sensation by the third month.
