Pain at back of head still persistent 14 days after FUT. Is this normal?

hy. I am 26 year male. I had FUT hair transplnt 3080 grafts.I am at 14th day post-op and pain at back of my head is stil like 1st day post-op.I feel pain only while I am laying down at my back when back of head is pressed against pillow. pain is also felt while tapping or rubbing even gently at back of head. I consulted my doctr and he said it is normal post op pain and will be gone after complete healing of internal wound. my sutures were removed 8th day post op.Is this pain normal? kindly help

Thanks for the question. A hair transplant operation can take four hours or more. Your stitches will be removed about 10 days after surgery. You may require up to three or four sessions to achieve the full head of hair you desire. Sessions occur several months apart to allow each transplant to fully heal. I wish you all the best.

People experience pain differently.  If you are concerned about the pain, you should see your doctor for a recheck.  It goes without saying that it will hurt when you lay on the pillow because the incision is on the back of the head.  This is normal.  If you believe it is more than what it should be, then go back to see your doctor for a recheck.

Thank you for posting your question. Everyone experiences surgery and recovery differently. The type of tenderness that you are describing sounds to be within the normal range and should fade away. In a word, no: it is not normal to have significant discomfort (equal to that of the 1st day) in the donor area 2 weeks after surgery. Occasionally, however, the incision can remain sensitive to pressure for awhile, especially if a wide strip was harvested. I think that you should gradually feel better with time. If you don't, you should definitely see your doctor again.

The pain should have significantly disappeared by now. Most people tell me that within a few days, the pain that is there is very mild and at 2 weeks, it should almost be gone.  If that is not the case, go back and see your doctor as there may be a problem with your wound and it should be examined.
