Retin-A: Is this normal purging? (Photos)

Hello, I’ve been using retin A .0025% for 4 weeks now... I started with every night but decreased the frequency to every other night until I only do it 2x a week now because of the excessive dryness/skin sensitivity/itching. But I’m just wondering if this is normal or should I stop using it. Im really really desperate and conscious because my work requires me to meet with people but it seems like they’re so focused with my blotchy/dry/red/flaky face.

The purging you are experiencing is a normal side effect of Retin-A, as is the redness, flakiness, and "wind burned" feeling. It is advisable to decrease usage to once per week until symptoms are more manageable, and slowly increase usage as your skin strengthens. This process can take 6-8 weeks or longer in some cases. Stick with it, and remember, the sooner your skin sheds those dead cells, the sooner you can begin to experience the many benefits of Retin-A.
