Hello, I am considering breast augmentation and hesitant because I have been diagnosed with Lyme Disease and have read many scary things regarding the negative side effects of breast implants on people with Lyme. My Lyme has been treated and is in remission, however I definitely don't want to do anything to jeopardize my health. What's your professional option on the success of breast augmentation with Lyme Disease? Is there any research that suggests it's not safe? Thank you!

Answer: #breast augmentation and Lyme disease Having a diagnosis of Lyme disease is not a contraindication for having breast augmentation. As long as your condition is treated and controlled you can have a breast augmentation and other cosmetic procedures, Lyme disease is a bacterial infection and your infectious disease Doctor should be able to tell you when is the best time for you to consider doing the procedure. Pretty much, what you will be reading in the Internet are only opinions, without any scientific studies to back them up.In regards to your procedure, be sure to seek the help of a plastic surgeon certified by the ABPS, preferably a member of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, this will assure you of their proper training and commitment towards aesthetic plastic surgery. The most important factor in obtaining a good result in your cosmetic procedure is the surgeon you elect to perform it.
