My upper front tooth is fractured and there is pus under the gum. The tooth has to be extracted but I am going away for a month

My upper front tooth broke at the gum line 15 years ago. I had root canal, a metallic post and a crown built. Now I have a pocket of pus under my gum (high) that I feel when I press. The tooth became sensitive to pressure and I took antibiotics that relieved the symptoms. My dentist told me that the tooth is fractured bellow the gum line and has to be removed. I am away for a month, can I take antibiotics to prevent infection from re-occurring/spreading and extract it on return. Thank you.
