Minocycling and minoxidil hair loss is reversable?

Hi I am 31. No history of balding in family. I went to doctor to solve my tired looking skin and thining hair. I got minocyclin and minoxidil. After 4 weeks I am dealing with sever hair shedding. I GOT panicked and visited another doctor, which prescribed stoping minocyclin (a possible side effect) and replacing minoxidil with cystiphane biorga foam! I am dealing with a lot of panic, never experienced such hair loss :(( will the hair grow back? Should I follow the second doctor's prescription?

Minocycline and Minoxidil can both cause hair shedding. However, the chances of each causing shedding are actually very different. One of the drugs you mentioned (minocycline) rarely causes hair loss and the other drug you mentioned nearly always causes some degree of hair loss in the first 1-2 months in those with underlying androgenetic alopecia. I can't determine the cause of your hair loss without having the full story and seeing your scalp up close. One needs to also consider the rather unlikey but not impoossible scenario that these two drugs have nothing to do with the said hair loss and a third diagnosis is contributory. Please see your doctor for guidance.
