Zirconia Crown on 30 &31, 3 weeks later I have jaw pain and 31 doesn't even make contact with #2. Any suggestions?

Never had any pain in my jaw before prior to this. Wondering if the pain in my jaw is due to 31 and 2 not making contact? I saw the the dentist yesterday and he filed down a crown on my other side when I told him of my problem and said it could take a few days for me to feel relief...Is he correct or shouldn't my back tooth #30 be making contact with my top back #2 tooth. I can literally bite down on a piece of paper back there and slip it out unscathed....Thanks for your advice in advance!!

if you are havinf jaw/joint pain I would want to know if it is because of a malocclusionI would want thenew crown to contact the opposing tooth.   i would replace the crown to come in contact

Very good question!  Without
knowing the details, if the only tooth out of occlusion is #30, it is doubtful
that this is the cause of your TMJ problems. 
Sometimes, the length of the procedure has more influence on jaw pain
than one or two teeth being out of occlusion. 
When your jaw is open for a protracted period, this can cause strain on
the ligaments in the joint.  It may take
several weeks for this condition to resolve itself.  If the pain began after the procedure I would
guess that the pain came from being open, if it occurred after the placing of
the crowns, I would guess, tooth related. 
Give it a couple of weeks and continue to follow up with your
dentist.
