I would like to improve 8 upper front teeth. One of the center teeth already has a crown which will be replaced. Should the matching partner tooth be another crown so it matches well or should it be a veneer to help preserve tooth structure?
Answer: Matching veneers and crowns .... #DreamDentist.com Matching veneers and crowns is very simple; I do this all the time. I make sure to let my lab know to make the veneer and crown out of the exact same block of zirconia. In case you're wondering, Zirconia is the same substance that is used to make cubic zirconia (man-made diamonds). This material is extremely hard, about 10 times harder than normal tooth enamel. This is what makes up the crowns and veneers that I place. If the crowns and veneers are done properly, they should outlast your natural teeth. This is why I offer a 10 year warranty on my crowns, veneers and bridges. I hope this helps.Sincerely,Dr. Sarah Thompson

Answer: Considerations in changing your front teeth Depending on what you choose to do with the 7 remaining teeth to improve them, veneering the tooth or teeth next to the crown is an option. Whether they match will depend on the type of crown material used. Some are more esthetic and let more light through like a natural tooth, other crown materials are opaque and let little to no light through. If your dentist chooses the same type of material for the crown as for the veneers, they will look the same. Or if you have two crowns placed there would match each other the best, preserving tooth structure aside. The type of crown material will be chosen based on how your dentist chooses to restore the crown. Also, if you are only going to be veneering one tooth and crowning one tooth, it will be harder to match the other 6 front teeth. Theses are concerns the bring to your dentist to achieve the most natural and well matched smile you desire. Good luck! Dr Ebner

Answer: It can be done with Veneers. You can match veneers and crowns as long as you use similar porcelains. A master ceramist will be essential in making this happen as well as a skilled Cosmetic Dentist with many years of experience. Ask to see photos of actual cases the cosmetic dentist has done and don't be afraid to ask about the Master ceramist who will be creating your smile.

Answer: Crown/Veneer The answer to your question depends on the dental ceramist who does the work. It certainly can be done but it's not easy. In my opinion, the only reason to do a crown on the other front tooth is if it should have one based on your bite or if the tooth needs one due to large filings being in the tooth. It shouldn't have to be done just to get a better shade match.
