My smile is lopsided and the left side is higher than my right side. I also have a lot more lines and creases on my left side when smiling. I naturally have fuller lips but when I smile my upper lip kind of tucks underneath. Is the unevenness a cosmetic issue or skeletal issue? Also would Botox be beneficial at all to even my smile or stop my lips from tucking underneath?
Answer: Asymmetry We all have facial asymmetry and yours certainly falls within normal range. This can be from your bone structure, stronger muscles on one side of the face, or a combination. Botox and fillers can be used to help with asymmetry. See an expert injector near you to learn more.

Answer: Lopsided Smile and Potential Treatment Options The unevenness of your smile could be due to several factors. It could be caused by differences in muscle strength on either side of your face, a skeletal imbalance, or even habitual expressions that have caused certain muscles to develop more than others. In some cases, dental issues such as misaligned teeth could also affect the symmetry of the smile. Botox is indeed a potential treatment option. It works by relaxing the muscles, thereby reducing the pull on one side of the face. This could help in achieving a more symmetrical smile. However, the effects are temporary, typically lasting about 3-6 months, and it might not address the issue of your upper lip tucking under. Another possible treatment option could be facial fillers. These are substances injected into the skin to help fill in facial wrinkles, creating a smoother appearance. Fillers could be used to add volume to the side of your face that appears less full, potentially improving the symmetry of your smile.

Answer: Botox can be an effective treatment for addressing asymmetry and a condition where the upper lip tucks inward Botox can be an effective treatment for addressing asymmetry and a condition where the upper lip tucks inward, often referred to as a "lip flip." A lip flip with Botox involves injecting a small amount of Botox into the upper lip's orbicularis oris muscle. This muscle encircles the mouth and, when relaxed, can cause the upper lip to turn inward, giving the appearance of thinner or less prominent lips. By strategically injecting Botox into this muscle, it can relax the muscle and allow the upper lip to roll outward slightly, creating the appearance of a fuller upper lip. This technique is a non-surgical way to enhance the shape and symmetry of the lips, and the results are temporary, typically lasting for a few months. The lip flip with Botox can be a great option for individuals who want a subtle enhancement and are looking to correct issues like lip asymmetry or a tucked-in upper lip without the need for dermal fillers or more invasive procedures. As with any cosmetic procedure, it's essential to consult with a qualified and experienced medical professional to determine if a lip flip with Botox is the right option for your specific needs and goals.

Answer: Treating an asymmetric smile Every single individual on this planet has some form of a symmetry in their smile. This can usually NOT be treated because the smile symmetry is determined by the facial bones, as well as the muscles moving the lips. And when the bones are not symmetric to begin with, I’m sure you don’t want to have them placed together in a symmetric manner as it would involve a lot of surgery. Enjoy your beautiful smile and good luck from New York City Plastic Surgery.
