Hi, Can Picosure laser remove or improve spectacle marks (brown spots) on nose? Is the area close to the eye shield that can't be treated? Thanks
Answer: Hyperpigmentation -- Peels (Cosmelan, AERIFY), Lasers (C+B, Aerolase, Genesis), RF Treatments, Skin Care, Hydroquinone Hyperpigmentation of any kind needs a combination approach of peels like cosmelan, enlighten and aerify along with dermarolling (EmerageSkin roller with anteage AERIFY MD ampules weekly,; lasers like Clear + Brilliant, Aerolase or Laser Genesis; radiofrequency like Venus Viva; and constant skin care and sun protection. Bimonthly facials with SilkPeel DermalInfusion are essential to hydrate, exfoliate and infuse vitamins and antioxidants into the skin. If you have acne you can do additional treatments and peels to get more improvement. Hypopigmentation will need more of an evaluation and possibly additional lasers to get improvement. I suggest a formal consultation with an expert in lasers and peels. Best, Dr. Emer.

Answer: Superficial Peels Can Lighten Brown Spots Of All Kinds The power of marketing to sway the public never ceases to amaze me. Rather than inquiring about which treatment can easily, effectively and inexpensively treat brown spots (of all causes), the question focuses a relatively expensive, heavily hyped "bells and whistles" treatment, such as picolasers (although this applies as much to fraxel lasers, RF devices and ultrasound machines), i.e. many of the supposedly "next big thing" devices to faddishly capture public interest. Superficial peeling agents, such as high concentration of salicylic or glycolic acid, Jessner's solution and low concentrations of TCA each have a several decades long track record for efficacy and safety in treating hyperpigmentation problems of all kinds. In experienced hands, the application to the nose should take no more than about fifteen seconds or so to complete. You would be wise to consult with an experienced, board certified cosmetic dermatologist. Hope this helps.
