Cold sensitivity in implant. Is this something to be concerned about? (photo)

It is the top right. Tooth #5 I believe. The crown is gold. I had it installed over a year ago and have had no complaints until recently, I've noticed sensitivity to cold. Thank you.

Hello,
Implants do not have any nerve endings and hence there is no sensation with them. I suggest that you have your dentist evaluate the adjacent teeth and even the lower teeth. Sensitivity could be coming from any tooth in that area.

The cold sensitivity is most likely coming from a tooth beside the implant. The gums could have receded and it is hard to tell where the sensitivity is coming from. You should have the area evaluated by a dentist. The Xray of the site will show if there is any bone loss adjacent to the tooth and implant. This will dictate if the recession could be corrected and if the exposed root could be completely covered.
