I appreciate your question.I would start with the ASPS website as there might be doctors in your area.If not, you may have to travel as this is a very specialized procedure that not many surgeons perform. The best way to assess and give true advice would be an in-person exam. Please see a board-certified plastic surgeon that specializes in aesthetic and restorative breast surgery.best of luck!Dr Schwartz
It's best to begin seeking a plastic surgeon with #board #certification and experience in this type of procedure. You should feel comfortable with your surgeon and his or her office staff. They should be open-minded regarding gender surgery. It’s important for your surgeon to have an aesthetic eye for body contouring, you should be comfortable with the surgical facility that your doctor uses and it should be certified. Although costs for surgery vary, it is important that the expense be reasonable per your surgeon’s experience. Questions you should ask yourself are: Does your #doctor and his office have an excellent reputation in the community? Are you comfortable that your doctor will have the experience to deal with any problems that may arise as they can with any surgery? Always make an informed decision and take your time.
Hello. Mastectomy (Breast Removal) surgery with a FTM approach is not a procedure that all Plastic Surgeons perform and are experienced in. I suggest that you research the options and look for a surgeon who has experience and great online reputation. You may have to travel, but the results will surely be worth the added endeavors.
You may need to check on the American Society of Plastic Surgeons website to see if there are any surgeons in your area that perform FTM top surgery. Often, patients have to travel to get this specialized surgery.
It is always advised to look for a board certified surgeon that has experience in this area. You can start by going to the ASPS website. I, myself, do perform these procedures at my surgery center. My office is experienced with handling patients from out of state and help you make the necessary arrangements if needed.
Stanley,Your question is right on target. There are many board-certified plastic surgeons in Oklahoma although you should dig deeper and find out if any of them are frequently performing FTM gender confirmation breast surgery. Since this surgery is much more specialized than simple breast removal, you will want to choose a surgeon that is very experienced with working with transgender patients. If there is a transgender health center in the city, they would be able to give you a referral or you might inquire with the endocrinology department at the university health center. If you are taking testosterone, your physician may be able to direct you. If you have had transgender counseling, ask the therapist who he/she is familiar with.I hope that this helps you move forward.
Hi MrIncognito2017. Thank you for your important question. Cystic change in your breasts is not a contraindication to having FtM top surgery. Provided you do not have any family history of breast or other cancers and if you are over 40 years you would need a pre-op mammogram +/- MRI to en...
