Can you have em sculpt on the abdominin area if you have had a naval hernia repaired 2 1/2 years ago? I am not overweight, work out 5 + times a week, and I am 20% body fat but can’t seen to loose the last of my belly. I am 65 and female.
Answer: Contraindications of Emsculpt....Can you have Emsculpt on the abdomen area if you have had a naval hernia? Hi MM, As with any treatment it is most important to make sure that you are a candidate for Emsculpt and that there are not any contra-indications to having it prior to your procedure. If you were my patient I would have you see your hernia surgeon to make sure that it is well healed and that your surgeon okays you having the treatment. If your hernia is healed, you should be able to undergo the Emsculpt procedure. There are a few contra-indications for Emsculpt treatment. Patients should not have any metal or electronic implants near the treatment area, no history of heart arrhythmia, cardiac pacemaker, implanted defibrillators, implanted neurostimulators, drug pumps, recent surgery, malignant tumors, excessive fat (the EM energy penetrates about 7 centimeters), epilepsy, pregnancy and breast feeding, the procedure on women preferably should be done when not menstruating as it may cause period to come earlier and cramping may be greater, and recent surgery. Make sure that your treating physician takes your complete medical history to avoid any adverse events or complications (no significant complications have yet to be reported with Emsculpt.) Choose your treating physician most carefully.Good luck and be well. Dr. P

Answer: EmSculpt over hernia repair sites Thank you for question. I have treated patients over hernia repairs and tummy tuck sites. I make sure that the sites are well healed and there are no recurrence of the hernias. If you exercise regularly and it has been more than two years, then you should be safe to have the procedure.

Answer: Emsculpt after hernia repair Abdominal surgeries are not contraindication for EmSculpt. If it has been few years, and no recurrence, and you should be fine. Most likely will be more intense treatment due to possible scar tissues, but long as you don't have any metal in your body, and you don't currently have a hernia, you are good to go.

Answer: Emsculpt over repaired hernia Thank you for your question. Provided the hernia has not had any recurrence, you should be able to undergo Emsculpt treatments over the abdominal area. Your physician should closely examine you prior to your treatments to ensure the hernia is fully repaired without evidence for weakness.I hope this was helpful - Dr. Moore.

Answer: Avoid in treatment of prior surgery Great question! It is best to avoid this elective, cosmetic procedure in an area of prior hernia surgery. The EMSCULPT device causes intense contraction of the muscles in the abdomen. If there is a weakness in the area of the surgery, an adverse event from treatment could occur. Best to be safe.
