When I discuss healing with my patients they understand that the implants are high at first then drop into the pocket over time. When this happens the breast rotates upward and do increase in size but not significantly.
Hi Mallory,To answer your question directly, no. Initially implants sit higher on the chest wall and there is significant swelling. With time first the swelling decreases then the implants slowly settle into a lower desired position on the chest wall. This combination creates the illusion that your breasts are larger, when in fact it's the same volume but due to the change in positioning the projection is increased and gives the appearance of larger breasts. This process can occur over 3-6 months so requires a little bit of patience in order to see your final result. Best of Luck!Dr. Rednam
Thank you for your question. When the breasts "drop and fluff" they are also most likely in the process of reducing in swelling. A reduction in swelling will cause the volume to decrease, but the dropping of the implants is not an increase in volume but rather a displacement of it.All the best,Dr. ResultsMiami, FL
In the first several weeks after surgery, swelling decreases and the breast volume decreases. After swelling goes away the implants are still high on the chest and the implants do not completely sit in the cup of your bra. As the implants fall into their final position more and more of the implant is positioned within the cup of your bra and this might give the perception of increased size. Also, as implants fall they look slightly larger in the mirror, although this is an optical illusion. Hope that helps!
I appreciate your question.Right now, you are very early on in thepost op recovery period. It will take 3-6 months for you to feel comfortablehaving implants in your body and for them to settle. This time allows for youto physically and psychologically adapt to your new body image. There are manyvariables that contribute to a breast augmentation's final result. Preop sizeand shape, IMF location, location of the implants and type of implant. Patientsheal at different rates and each breast will sometimes heal at a differentrate. Rest, relax, recover and heal. You will not lose anyvolume but the way your implant sits on your chest wall will change, and canresult in different ‘fills’ to your bra. Express your concerns to your surgeon sohe/she can examine you. Then reassess final result at 6 months. The best way to assess and give trueadvice would be an in-person exam. Please see a board-certified plasticsurgeon that specializes in aesthetic and restorative breast surgery.Best of luck!Dr. Schwartz
No, they don't get bigger. The volume stays the same. However, the shape changes so they look different which can alter your perceptions of their size. Hope this helps -- Dr. Nazarian
In the initial healing phase after breastaugmentation, the breasts are swollen and tight. Over time, the swelling goesdown and the muscle and tissue relax to better accommodate the implant. As theimplants drop and relax into place, the breasts become softer and assume theirfinal shape. During this dropping and fluffing process, the breasts do not getbigger. In fact, as the swelling reduces and the breasts drop into place, theymay appear slightly smaller than they did immediately following surgery.
It is appearence that changes not the size with dropping and fluffing out of breasts after breast augmentatio.
Thank you for the question. It could take a good 4-6 months for your implants to fully settle and drop in place. At first, swelling would give your breasts a larger look but as time goes by they're going to drop, swelling goes down, breast size will decrease a bit, and you can see your final results. Best of luck, Dr. Michael Omidi.
Congratulations on having undergone the breast augmentation procedure. Many of my patients report that as the swelling around the breast implants (for example, in the sternal area) decreases, they feel that their breasts appear more projecting. Also, in my opinion, the "drop and fluff” phenomenon does hold some validity; as breast implants “settle”, many patients feel that their breasts actually look larger. Although online consultants cannot predict whether or not you will be pleased with the long-term outlook, of the procedure performed, it is safe to predict that the breasts will change. Do your best to stay emotionally even keeled. Best wishes for an outcome that you will be pleased with longer-term.
Having had a capsular contracture or two myself, I get it. Even if they don't deform the breast they are just annoying. First, you do not need to have it treated now or ever, it is no threat to your health or your implant. Second, if another pregnancy is imminent I would...
1.It does seem that you have an issue with forming encapsulation. Since it has already happened twice to you, it is very likely to happen again. It is possible to have Alloderm placed at the time of your revision breast surgery. There has been some evidence that shows this may decrease the...
The difference is a little less than 3 tablespoons. If you're worried, the obvious answer would be to go with the lower volume. Unfortunately clothed photos are of no help to us. Nor have any of us examined you for volume and quality of breast tissue or chest dimensions. Only the surgeon who has...
