Thank you for your question and photos.CAST Liposuction combined with mini-brachioplasty produces excellent upper arm contour. Liposuction of upper arm can produce excellent results in individuals with mild to moderate skin laxity. Additional skin tightening can be achieved with J-Plasma powered by Renuvion (Cool Helium Plasma). I recommend the Circumferential para-Axillary Superficial Tumescent (CAST) technique for upper arm contouring. The use of tumescent anesthesia, micro cannula, and meticulous post operative care maximizes skin retraction and can give excellent improvement. If there is skin laxity, a brachioplasty may be required to tighten the skin. The minibrachioplasty is ideal for correcting the loose skin in the upper third of the inner arm. An ellipse of skin is removed from the axilla (arm pit) and the thin skin of the upper inner arm is advanced and tightened. The scar generally heals well and is well hidden, allowing you to wear short sleeves and sleeveless blouses. For certain patients, dermal tightening with J-plasma can allow you to avoid scar as it produces excellent skin tightening. I generally try to avoid performing a full Brachioplasty unless the skin is extremely loose. In such cases the resulting improvement in the contour of the arm can be dramatic, but the scars are difficult to hide. Please consult with a Board-Certified Plastic Surgeon.Best regards,Andrew Lyos, M.D., FACS
An arm lift can remove excess skin and add contour. Trade off will be scars. An exam and consultation with a plastic surgeon who performs these procedures is recommended to confirm you are a candidate as well as discuss your options and expectations.
Thank you for your question and photos. It looks like you would b a good candidate for an arm lift, (brachioplasty), It sounds like you are in great shape as well. The risk of surgery and anesthesia typically has less to do with chronological age and more with how your health is. While it is a part of weighing the risks vs. benefits, there are many variables. This operation carries scars. Each plastic surgeon may approach this differently. Also each patient is different. Best to see a board certified plastic surgeon. They will evaluate you and together you will make a plan for your goals. Jeffrey J. Roth, M.D., F.A.C.S. Board Certified Plastic Surgeon Las Vegas Plastic Surgery
Hello 09071974 in Odessa, Florida,Thank you for your question about the possibility of correcting arm concerns following liposuction performed 15 years ago, and for sharing your stable weight history and photos. Based on your description, it sounds like you are considering further surgical options to enhance the appearance of your arms.Given your history and the details you've provided, it seems you could be a good candidate for an arm lift (brachioplasty) or arm reduction. This procedure is designed to address excess skin, which appears to be your primary concern, rather than excess fat.Procedure Overview: For an arm lift, an incision is typically made from the armpit to the elbow. If there is also concern about the appearance of the forearms, the incision can be extended down to the wrist. This allows for the direct removal and tightening of excess skin along the upper and potentially lower arms.Anesthesia and Duration: Arm lifts are generally performed under general anesthesia. The surgery duration can vary but typically takes about 4 to 6 hours, depending on the extent of the skin removal and the specific techniques used.Recovery: Drains are often not necessary for this type of procedure. An arm lift is usually an outpatient procedure, meaning you can go home the same day after surgery.Post-Lipo Considerations: As you mentioned having had liposuction in the past, it's important to note that liposuction addresses fat removal and may not be suitable for your current concerns if the primary issue is excess skin. An arm lift targets and resolves this specific issue more effectively.Consulting with an experienced, board-certified plastic surgeon who specializes in arm lifts is crucial. They can provide a detailed examination, assess the elasticity and quality of your skin, and discuss realistic expectations based on your individual anatomy and goals.I hope this information is helpful in guiding you towards the next steps for your arm concerns and that you find a suitable solution with a qualified professional.Good luck with your decision and potential procedure. I hope you achieve the results you are looking for.Sincerely,Dr. Katzen
Yes you can achieve improvement to your arms with an arm lift procedure. You have loose skin that can be removed to improve the laxity that is present. The trade off of course is a scar on the inside of the arm.Congratulations on the excellent conditioning, that is awesome and inspiring. All the best to you,Dr. Nancy de Kleer
Thank you for your question. Congratulations on being such an active person and taking such good care of yourself. Looking at the pictures you provided (thank you) it appears that your underlying muscles are toned very well but the overlying skin is loose and may benefit from tightening. This likely requires an arm lift procedure to remove the excess skin, an arm lift, aka brachioplasty. It is difficult to say, only looking at your pictures, how long of a scar you will require for to achieve the best contour of your arms. I recommend you being seen and examined by a board certified plastic surgeon, who can examine you and discuss with you the pros (e.g. improved shape) and cons (e.g.scar) of the procedure and develop a surgical plan specifically for you. Best wishes, Franziska Huettner
It is very common for women to want an Arm Lift, especially after having had children or weight loss/gain. Pregnancy definitely is hard on the arm areas and this is a comment complaint among women visiting my office. It is important to plan for after surgery especially with a full scar arm lift. Recovery is not as bad with a mini arm lift. However, you need to be realistic. Recovery can vary between patients and depends on the specific combination of procedures you have done. Make sure your support is there in terms of family, significant others, children etc. It will be important.Obviously the body heals with swelling and inflammation and usually that maxes out at two days and then starts getting better. Most of these patients take no pain medicine (because of the nerve blocks given during surgery) and usually feel very comfortable going out in public the same or next days. I usually call my patients the night of surgery and check on them in person the next day. If everything is fine the next day, I then let them shower and they do not need a dressing over their incisions. At the two week check up, I usually have people start working out and then after six weeks they can do whatever they want. I routinely tell people to take a few days to a week off work. As with any scar on the human body, initially scars are red, hard and raised and it typically takes six months to a year for them to become a soft thin white line. Additionally with recovery, there're many things we do to expedite healing such as nerve blocks during surgery, oral supplements, skin care and scar therapy recommendations, lymphatic massage sessions that are included in our pricing.I strongly feel that it's very important to have an honest conversation with your surgeon about your particular situation, lifestyle, work environment and specifically which procedures you're having done so that you both have the most honest answer about your recovery and are realistic with expectations and results.I would recommend that you see a board-certified plastic surgeon in your area that is a member of both ASPS & ASAPS and performs a lot of arm lifts and body lifting. Good luck with your future correction!I hope my answer helps and if it does, please take a moment to up vote this answer on the “respond” button on the top right. Have a great day.
Thanks for posting your photographs. If too much fat is removed during liposuction the result is excess loose skin. You may be an excellent candidate for an arm lift procedure to address the excess skin of your upper arms. Arrange a consultation with a fully qualified plastic surgeon to discuss your options.
You may be a candidate for brachioplasty (arm lift) surgery depending on your general health. Brachioplasty surgery removes excess skin and can improve the surface texture of the upper arm. Patients seeking brachioplasty need to understand that a scar, typically from armpit to elbow, will be present along the inner lower border of the arm, and may not be concealable in all arm positions or all types of clothing. It is a tradeoff of accepting the scar instead of the redundant skin
Congratulations on an awesome lifestyle :) You’d be a candidate for an upper arm and forearm lift. This operation excises excess skin. I incorporate the FINNESSE technique, which I invented. Bleeding and pain are minimal and recovery is quicker than traditional techniques. It’s a popular operation with many of my patients. Non surgical treatment is shrinking the skin utilizing Velashape. Radio frequency is used to shrink the collagen. One cannot obtain the same tightness as with surgery but it works well with patients who like to see an improvement without surgery. I hope you find this information useful.
