I had liposuction with bodytite to my abdomen and flanks one year ago. I am thin, I work out and eat well, I can't afford to lose any more weight but my stomach still doesn't look flat- I have lumps and hardness. It's just uneven all around my left flank is still larger and I have a small bump in my lower left abdomen. What is the best treatment for this moving forward? Kybella? Coolsculpt and sculpsure never worked for me prior to lipo because I was told I have dense fat
Answer: Uneven after liposuction Dear Realtraci, I would have to examine you but it appears that this is a contour irregularity after liposuction. This happens often when areas the undergo liposuction are not feathered appropriately. The good news is that it can be fixed and I have done so with good results before. While there is always a chance for contour irregularities with liposuction, someone who takes their time and uses the appropriate sized cannulas should give you a superb result.I have all my patients wear compression garments and I use multiple sized cannulas to feather out the result. Answer: Correcting undesirable outcomes from Liposuction Correcting undesirable outcomes from Liposuction is very difficult and sometimes not possible. Generally the treatment options come down to revision Liposuction, for the transfer and in some cases converting the procedure to a skin tightening operation like a full tummy tuck. All of them are significantly limited and the decision of how to proceed is very patient and area specific. Nonsurgical options are not going to do any good for you. Realistically revision Liposuction if there were areas they were slightly under treated is your best option. In reality most patients who have bad outcomes from Liposuction where in fact over treated and this is far more difficult to correct. Fat transfer works poorly in patients over treated. Most need multiple rounds of fat transfer and still the results aren’t great. Anyone who claims to easily correct this or to restore you to a smooth even a Abdomen should be questioned. Be particularly cautious of providers claiming that high energy devices such as VASER can do things like “break up the scar tissue“. Further surgery will create more scar tissue potentially worsening the problem. It’s too late now but the best option is always to void this by seeking the help of providers who have extensive skill and experience leaving even results in the first place. Personally I don’t believe radio frequency/internal heating treatments like bodytite or J plasma add any significant improvement. I wish I could be more optimistic and offer you real options. I’ve been a plastic surgeon for over 20 years in the last 10 years we’re focused exclusively on liposuction and fat transfer. I performed over 7000 Liposuction procedures. Delivering consistent high quality results is more difficult than people believe. Best, Mats Hagstrom MD
