Veins under armpit. Should I visit a doctor? (Photo)

It’s important to distinguish between varicose veins and spider veins when choosing between laser therapy, sclerotherapy, and vein surgery. With two board certified vein specialists, our center uses a combination of visual examination, functional flow measurements, ultrasound, transillumination, and infrared light to map out vein networks prior to therapy. Lasers can be used to treat deep varicose vein insufficiency, vein perforators, and varicose veins. Sclerotherapy is ideal for spider veins and reticular veins. Whereas surgery is reserved for severely incompetent varicose vein segments.

A vascular ultrasound is needed to determine the anatomy of these veins and to make sure there is no deep vein component that is leaking or clotted. I highly doubt that you have clots as it is a bilateral problem.They can be treated since they are superficial veins.

This is a normal finding in view of your workout sessions. If it is not painful, reddish or warm to the touch along with swelling of the arm, I would not worry about it nor treat it. If symptoms of arm pain, swelling, or fatigue are present, a visit to your vascular surgeon would be advised. Arm veins without symptoms do not require any treatment. 

Veins will enlarge with straining and weight lifting.  This is a normal finding.  What you are seeing is engorgement of the veins.  There is no need to do anything about this at this time.  If the veins should become more prominent or painful then you should see a vein specialist for a venous ultrasound.
