Misshapen and lumpy lips after 0.5ml Restylane, will this resolve on its own? (Photo)

Question

Hi. I had 0.5ml Restylane injected in my top and bottom lips which are lumpy and misshapen. I went back to the doctor who treated me who has advised me to take ibuprofen and go back in 2 weeks. Please can you advise? Thank you.

Thank you for sharing your question and posting your photograph. The bumps might improve over the next couple of weeks. Massaging them will help hasten dispersion of the product. If you are not satisfied with the results after a few weeks, have your doctor dissolve the product and reinject 2 weeks later.Good luck,

Lumps and swelling can be typical following lip fillers. It can take 1-2 weeks for final results. I would wait a full 2 weeks before judging the results. If it is after the two week wait, you can have the filler reversed with hyaluronidase.

Thank you for your question. It is common to have some swelling and lumps after HA filler injections especially in the lips. It can take up to 2 weeks for all swelling to resolve and see your final results. If after 2 weeks you are unhappy with your results you can have the filler dissolved with hyaluronidase. I recommend having a follow up with your injector to address any concerns you may have. Best of Luck!

Any injection of Restylane is temporary and will go away and 0.5 cc is not very much but be sure you are seeing a board certified dermatologist who is experienced in the use of fillers
