Where Can I Get a Nose Gaurd So I Can Play Basketball?

Question

I had surgery 6 weeks ago, and want to get back to playing basketball. I want to be safe so I am looking for a face mask. Where can I get a nose guard for my face? Thanks in advance!

Is between you and your surgeon whether you should return to athletic activity six weeks after rhinoplasty. The nose should be extremely stable at that time. I'm not certain a face shield of any kind will be of practical benefit.

I prefer my patients not compete in contact sports, including Basketball for 2 months after rhinoplasty. If they must, as did one pro soccer player, I got them a guard at Gerry Cosby's in New York City. I learned that from the Knicks' trainer. I was actually at a Knicks playoff game a few years later and John Starks broke his nose. In the second half he came out with the same guard. I guess the trainer took his own advice.

I think it is important to ask your surgeon about when you can go back to sports first.  A nose guard shouldl be discussed with your surgeon. I'll allow contact sports usually by 6 weeks.
