Rejection of chin implant? My face and neck became swollen, but the worst problem has been the sudden swelling of my lips!

Hello! I had an chin implant placed five weeks ago. (incision placed under the chin) For about 1 week ago i had a cold, since then i had a lot of problems. Last week i had to go to emergency, they think this was an allergic reaction?! One week has passed now and my lips are still very swollen, pale and small... Can someone tell me whats going on? Is my body rejecting this silicone implant?

Hi, I have performed many facial shaping procedures, including Chin Augmentation with dermal fillers or silastic chin implants, for over 30 years. If the chin implant is silastic, this is an inert material and would not cause an allergic reaction. You should be evaluated by your Chin Implant Surgeon for a possible post operative infection or an allergic reaction to the post op medications. In my experience, post op infections are very rare with silastic chin implants.Hope this helps
