Can the bonding glue from attaching Invisalign buttons to a crown permanently change the original color of the crown?

Question

I got Invisalign a few months ago and I was very specific with the doctor that I had a porcelain crown on my front left tooth. I'm super cautious of that tooth because it was a very expensive crown. I had to have two attachments to that particular tooth and now the color and texture of my crown is different from the rest of my tooth. I asked the dentist about it and he just says it needs polishing at the end of treatment, but the color is way off. Please help

Hello there,This is nothing to be concerned about.  The button/attachment has probably become stained which would explain why you've noticed that your crown looks different.  However, the color of your porcelain crown has not changed. At the end of treatment, your dentist will remove the attachment and polish your crown.  Good luck and I hope this helps. Hi there, Attachment/braces dental glue is far too often left behind after treatment, stains tend to make it look much more obvious. It is however a quick fix so do not be alarmed. It will require a bit of polishing back and smoothing off.

The attachment would not change the color of the crown.  There may be some excess composite or bonding agent that just needs to be smoothed off.

The attachment that is placed will just need to be polished off when treatment is complete and should have no effect on the color of the porcelain once the bonding agent is removed.
